Cologne Museums -- Illustrated History Of Cologne

In the Cologne museums you will find the Cologne history, which started more than 2,000 years ago, when the first Romans came to this Rhine area.

Its location at the intersection of the Rhine river with one of the major trade routes between eastern and western Europe was the foundation of Cologne's commercial importance. In the Middle Ages it also became an ecclesiastical centre of significance and an important centre of arts and education.

So you might have an gripping journey through the Cologne Museums once you are here.

Marcus

Cologne History already started very early...

The Cologne history started more than 2,000 years ago, when the first Romans came to this Rhine area.

When Cologne became city in 50 A.D., it beared the name Colonia Claudia Ara Agrippinensium (CCAA) because of the Roman Empress Agrippina. That set the starting point of the "nothern Rome" and the Cologne history.

So check my new page out! It's not only important in regards to the current World Youth Day ;-)

Marcus

Checkpoint Charlie in Berlin Germany

With the construction of the Berlin Wall, Americans erected the Checkpoint Charlie on Sunday August 13th, 1961, in Berlin Germany. It was named Charlie, following the NATO phonetic alphabet. Checkpoint Alpha was at Helmstedt, the autobahn checkpoint passing from West Germany into East Germany; Checkpoint Bravo was at Dreilinden, where motor traffic left East Germany and entered West Berlin.

Hanover Germany History

Hanover Germany was a small village of ferrymen and fishermen, which became a comparatively large town in the 13th century. In the 14th century, the main churches were built, as well as a city wall with three town gates that should secure the city.

In 1636, Duke of Calenberg decided to move his residence to the town. His duchy was afterwards known as the Duchy of Hanover. His descendants would later become kings of Great Britain; the first of them was George I, who ascended to the British throne in 1714. Three kings of Great Britain were at the same time Electoral Princes of Hanover.

On my new page you are going to find out much more about the history of Hanover Germany.

Marcus
